The Minor Fall stumbled upon this Christmas tune by Webber/Rice, originally recorded by Perry Como and quickly realized that the very reason this was never a huge Christmas hit is precisely why it should be heard today. Lyrics such as; “Every year I dream it, hoping things will change. An end to the crying, the shouting, the dying..” is a tribute to the shared feeling of humanity in these dark days. Where the Como version is masked behind an over-the-top polka, The Minor Fall put the darkness of the lyric in the forefront aided by the chime of the bouzouki and an abundance of lush reverb.
lyrics
Watching now, here we go, we just need a little snow
Starting off, set the scene, help to dream a Christmas dream
Every year I dream it, hoping things will change
An end to the crying, the shouting, the dying
And I hope you will dream it too
It's Christmas, remember, we've got to remember
Crazy things, said and done, each and every day but one
Every night... I believe, should be the same as Christmas Eve
Nights should all be sil - ent, days should all slow down
An end to the hurry, the noise and the worry
And I hope you will dream it too
It's Christmas, remember, does no one remember
Burn your candle bright, I'm coming home tonight
I need it to warm me, to calm me, to love me
And I hope you will dream it too
And may our Christmas dream come true
